88UW - born 1978 in Hamburg got already fascinated by electronic music in the early 80s. His 1st “mix tapes” he did, before even knowing of the existence of clubs, with only one turntable and a tape deck. Counting the loops on instrumentals, adding a vocal sample, going on with next loop and so on…
In 1991, age 13, he finally visited a record store specialised in electronic music to buy his 1st “real” techno record. Three years later at the age of 16 he started to play in clubs and hasn't stopped to this day. From 2009-2015 he has been resident DJ at legendary Tresor Club in Berlin for which he travelled a lot, even down to Australia to perform gigs in Sydney and Melbourne.
In 1999 he started teaching himself music production without any intension to get things released to soon. First 88UW started to perform a lot live in clubs for a couple of years, so his first release was only in 2010 on Parallel 125, followed by Synewave Records. In a very short time he has made a significant impact on the techno scene in Germany and abroad. He released regularly on known labels including the legendary Synewave Records, Missile Records, Nachtstrom + Starkstrom Schallplatten, Illegal Alien Records and Acid Avengers to only name a few. His own tracks, and remixes for the likes of Blind Observatory, Damon Wild,Tim Taylor and Hector Oaks are known for their unique, dark and pumping sounds.This signature of 88UW sound is in demand and leaves listeners on dance floors around the world in ecstasy.
