Community building, forming and networking
The Syrian House in Germany is focusing on networking, organizing, supporting, and representing the interests of the Syrian Community in Germany.
Facebook is one of the main channels used by the Syrian House for accessing and building the Syrian community and for managing the communication network. On Facebook the Syrian community is organized in groups. The group “Syrian House in Germany” acts as the main forum. Here information is posted and discussions take place that are of general interest to the community.
Other groups are formed and administered which focus on specific topics of relevance. These are family reunion, profession and interests on the one hand side and uniting the people of the different regions and cities in Germany.
In addition to the Facebook groups, Facebook pages are created for more static content. There are pages providing information on the cities and regions, as well as there are pages where groups of Syrian professional’s upload and share work. Information on events, activities and campaigns are published and shared via Facebook pages.

Activities and Events
Events make the Syrian community physically visible to the public and provide interfaces for integration work. To transfer knowledge within, to, and from the Syrian community, The Syrian House is organizing educational workshops in close cooperation with the Migration HUB network. Other events organized to support integration with the German society include cultural events (e.g. arts, music) and reoccurring recreation activities (sports, music, cooking). To establish a long term, reliable and publicly recognized interface between the Syrian Community and the German Society, The Syrian House will develop a format for a conference of the leaders of the Syrian diaspora in Germany.

Representation of interests
Lobbying of interests of the Syrian diaspora in Germany is done by providing and publishing content on issues of the Syrian community. Journalists with a Syrian background are briefed with topics and supported to integrate in the German media companies. Vice versa, German media companies are supported with content and in finding adequate interview partners and acceptance for projects within the Syrian community.
Campaigns and support programs are organized and supported by media campaigns (e.g. “Danke Deutschland”, “Why not Syria”, “Recht auf Uni”) to support integration and to launch issues into the political discussion of the German society and into the international community.
