Hands up anyone who has lost a friend or loved-one? OK. Now hands up anyone who hasn't lost a friend or loved-one but will do in the future? Right - that's pretty much everyone on the planet then. Contrary to media myth, dying and death, funerals and bereavement are not taboo subjects. They are being talked about, felt and experienced by a huge number of people every minute. As a funeral celebrant and bereavement support volunteer I deal with these subjects every day and I wanted to start a Facebook page to reflect some of this work and share my thoughts and experiences. I also want to get people talking about end of life issues, and, most importantly, to show how being aware of our mortality does actually make our lives happier. So you don’t have to be dealing directly with grief to find any of this useful – it's as much about living as it is about dying. I truly believe that death gives life meaning – so, if you want to feel inspired, comforted, informed and uplifted, then come on in. And join in too...
