In the Fall of 2002, the University of Bonn, RWTH Aachen University, the University of Applied Sciences Bonn Rhein-Sieg, and the Fraunhofer Institute Centre Birlinghoven Castle (IZB) joined forces to establish the Bonn-Aachen International Center for Information Technology (B-IT). Supported by the B-IT Foundation and complementary state resources, B-IT offers highly selective International Master Programmes in Applied IT as well as summer/winter schools for qualified computer science students. Most courses take place in the beautiful B-IT building next to the former office of the German Chancellor on the banks of the Rhine River in Bonn. Admission to the B-IT Master Programmes is linked to, and conditional upon, placement in research lab courses at the participating Fraunhofer institutes. Students in good standing are offered financial support during these lab courses.
