This is a scientific research project.
Deeva is short for short for Depot of Evolving Avatars, which is a platform for the generation of virtual characters. The generation is not, as in other systems, based on the direct manipulation of geometric descriptors. The input of the generation is an instance of some personality or behavioural model that is configured simply filling a grid of checkboxes.

The system is based on the assumption that in all cultures people have beliefs and prejudices associating a physical aspect to some behavioural or personality traits. The idea is to have a system able to capture such beliefs and prejudices, and exploit them to generate virtual characters that fulfil common expectations.

The generation is not based on some mathematical model or formulas. The system uses a "crowd-based" approach to collect and store people's beliefs in associating the appearance of a virtual character to its personality. If enough information is collected, it can be used to generate the virtual characters that people expect. The more the system is used, the more accurate is its output.
