Department of Marketing

Our mission:

The Department of Marketing was founded in 2014. Our mission is to create and maintain a research environment that produces solutions for marketing in the age of an increasingly complex and digitally connected world. We strive for impact on marketing research, on business practice, and in the classroom.

Through research, we discover, preserve, and disseminate knowledge in the interrelated fields of digital marketing, e-commerce, customer management and cross-channel-management.

Through teaching, we develop responsible, thoughtful employees and entrepreneurs who are well prepared for the many new challenges of 21st century practice.

Our principles:

Rigor and relevance in research. We believe that excellence in research not only helps the department to become an internationally visible research institution, it also directly translates into a better teaching environment and forms the basis for being recognized in the business practice.

Application-oriented and interactive teaching approach. We encourage an application-oriented and interactive teaching approach to engage students in the learning process and to train their critical thinking skills.

Close relationships with business community. We maintain close relationships with the business community to explore management thinking, to collaborate in research projects, and to assist our business partners in the context of specific management problems.
