Als Kultur- und Bildungsinstitution, die 1946 von der amerikanischen Militärregierung in Nürnberg gegründet wurde, ist das ehemalige Amerika Haus und das heutige Deutsch-Amerikanische Institut e.V. tief in der Stadtgeschichte Nürnbergs verwurzelt. Die wichtigsten Säulen unserer Arbeit sind Sprachkurse, die englischsprachige Bibliothek, unser Beratungsangebot rund um alle Austauschprogramme in den USA (Education USA), ein breites Politik- und Kulturprogramm sowie die Kinder- und Jugendarbeit. Wir fördern den transatlantischen Dialog regional und überregional. Die Zusammenarbeit mit Kultur- und Bildungsinstitutionen aus der Nürnberger Region sowie mit unseren amerikanischen Partnern liegt in unserer Tradition. Im diesjährigen 70. Bestehungsjahr reicht die Zielgruppe des DAI mit seinem vielfältigen Angebot von 0-99 Jahren und strahlt weit über die Stadtgrenzen hinaus. Das Deutsch-Amerikanische Institut ist ein Haus der internationalen und interkulturellen Begegnungen.

Founded as a cultural and learning institution by the US Military in 1946, the Amerika Haus, now known as the German American Institute, has deep roots in Nürnberg’s history. The key pillars of our work here are language courses, our English language library, counseling for all aspects of exchange programs in the USA (Education USA), an in-depth political and cultural program, as well as programs for youth and children. We promote transatlantic dialog at both the regional and national level.
The DAI has a long tradition of collaboration with cultural and educational institutions throughout the Nürnberg region, as well as American partnerships. Now in our 70th year, the GAI continues to reach our target groups both in and beyond the borders of the city, with diverse offerings for ages 0-99. The German American Institute is a house of International and intercultural encounters.
