Deutsche Schuhfachschule

Die zweijährige Ausbildung an der Deutschen Schuhfachschule führt nach erfolgreichem Abschluss aller Lernmodule zum Titel „Staatl. gepr. Schuhtechniker/-in“. Die Studierenden wählen einen der beiden Schwerpunkte „Betriebstechnik“ oder „Modellgestaltung“ aus, welcher in Klammern hinter dem Titel angegeben wird.

Den Absolventen stehen vielfältige Berufsmöglichkeiten sowohl in der Schuh- und Zuliefererindustrie als auch in der Modebranche offen. Der Schwerpunkt „Betriebstechnik“ bereitet intensiv auf Tätigkeiten als Produktionsplaner, Controller oder Technischer Betriebsleiter vor. Betriebstechniker kontaktieren Zulieferer (z. B. Lederhersteller) und leiten Fertigungsaufgaben in der Fabrikation, sowohl im Schaftbau als auch in der Bodenmontage. Zu ihren Aufgaben gehören auch die Arbeitsvorbereitung, die Fertigungsplanung und insbesondere die Optimierung von Fertigungsprozessen.

Mit dem Schwerpunkt „Modellgestaltung“ eröffnen sich Perspektiven als technischer Modelleur (Schuhkonstrukteur) oder Entwurfsmodelleur (Schuhdesigner). Technische Modelleure sind verantwortlich für die Umsetzung der Modellentwürfe in die Serienreife. Schuhdesigner befassen sich hauptsächlich mit dem Entwurf neuer Schuhe und der Entwicklung von Schuhkollektionen. Diese Tätigkeiten erfordern zeichnerisches Talent und hohe Kreativität.

Die Schwerpunktwahl innerhalb der Ausbildung stellt zwar eine fachliche Ausrichtung dar, legt jedoch den Berufsweg keineswegs endgültig fest, da infolge der breit angelegten Grundbildung es möglich sein soll, auch außerhalb seines Schwerpunktes erfolgreich tätig zu sein. Die sichere Anwendung moderner Kommunikationstechniken ist hierbei Grundlage betrieblicher Entscheidungsfindungen.

Absolventen der Deutschen Schuhfachschule sind weltweit in nahezu allen renommierten Unternehmen der Schuh- und Lederwarenbranche in führenden Positionen tätig.

Some General Information in English

The Deutsche Schuhfachschule (DSF) has been founded in 1927 as a private continuation school of the german shoe industry. Nowadays DSF is a course of education belonging to the Berufsbildende Schule Pirmasens (public school for vocational education). The graduates are leaving school after a state examination either as a Officially Certified Shoe Technician in Footwear Design or in Footwear Technology.

The entire courses in footwear design or technology take two years. The school attendance is free of charge. The participants only pay the costs for learning aids, board and lodging. The DSF is giving help to find suitable accomodations.
Everyone who completed a certified vocational training as an industrial or handicraft shoemaker, orthopedic shoemaker or shoe upper maker and who has practised that profession at least for 12 months can be accepted as a student at DSF. A five year practice in shoe making can be accepted as well.

Most of the learning modules at DSF are organized by full-time teachers, but external lecturers are taken on for special courses. The instruction language is German. Good knowledge of the German language is a basic requirement.

The times for begin and end of the school year as well as for the holidays are the same as for all public schools in Rheinland-Pfalz. The final examinations take place at the end of the 4th semester in the month of June. Closing date for enrollment is March 1st . The filled in application form must be sent to:
