Maarta

Hi, My name is Christiane. I live with my daughter and two dogs in a beautiful town in Southwest Germany and create under my pseudonym MAARTA. I feel attracted to nature and animals and I love long walks in the woods and the fields. Drawing and designing are great ways for me to relax and bring my mind „down“. Creativity and creative work, crafting, books, music and color upheave my life with the sense of meaning and relating.

I learned the first drawing principles from my father who was an interior designer, while my mother oftentimes took me to art exhibitions. In these years I was fascinated by Michelangelo, Jugendstil, Escher and Magritte. The influences of all these backgrounds are unmistakable to be found in my drawings and design.

Being a multifaceted human being I get bored in doing always the same thing. My common way to create is to create something for me. If I really like it, then I create more of it and give it away or sell it. I do not take orders, because taking orders is not what I am made of. I give and sell what I am actually feeling in resonance with. All the original art in my gift shop are unique and there is always only a few pieces available of each kind of product.

Sometimes I create some more later, if I feel so, but I never promise. ;-)
