In the city of Neddernhof in Niedersachsen/Germany exists a small family-owned company named “mapapu” (Mapapu is a German word creation for Mum-Dad-Puppet). In a very unique and special way this company is providing comfort for those grieving the loss of a loved one or a child whose parents are separating. This comfort is given by the so called mapapus, this company is sewing. The mapapu is a personalized stuffed animal, which is sewn out of the parents favorite clothes, and making it unique and special to each child. The familiar fabric and smell of the clothes woven into the mapapu trigger family memories and the feeling of security for the child.
