An intensive 6-day workshop retreat for beginners to advanced (master class) starting in summer 2015. The next retreat will take place in a rural location near BERLIN, Germany.

In small groups for beginners and advanced you will learn traditional Persian rhythms in combination with modern “Zeitgeist” and Mortazavi’s new developed techniques.

Extending boundaries and limitations, Mohammad Reza Mortazavi has developed over 30 new strike and finger techniques and has revolutionised the Tombak and Daf. His techniques allow for simultaneous playing of polyrhythmic beats, sophisticated melodies and polyphonic compositions. As a solo artist he produces sounds of orchestral proportions.

Through the transformative power of sound and rhythm, Mortazavi takes himself and the attendees on a liberating journey of trance and ecstasy.

The retreat will include accommodation and nourishment using organic and locally sourced produce wherever possible.
