More about Nepal Schulprojekt - Zukunft für Kinder - e.V.

In a country where poverty and illiteracy are the order of the day, the German NGO was initiated by in September 2000 by setting up a nursery school for 26 children of carpet weavers who lived on the brink of subsistence level. Today, more than 50 children attend two nurseries in the Kathmandu Valley, a public school for 180 children was built in Dadikot/Bakhtapur, a home for refugee children from Humla (north-western district of Nepal) was established in Kathmandu, and a big hostel next to a government school was constructed in Humla where 132 children have been accommodated. In addition to Nepali, English and science, traditional dance and music are taught to promote and preserve their rich culture and traditions.

Children Home in Kathmandu
22 children from Humla live in a home in Kathmandu affectionately taken care of by Kumar, a former teacher from Humla, his family, and three didis (elder sisters who do the household work). In addition to a warm and friendly home, the children receive education, a healthy diet, and medical treatment. The next upcoming plan is to reunite the very young children with their families in Humla since there are education and living perspectives in Humla again.

School in Biruwa/Dadikot
In 2004, a government school was inaugurated in the village Biruwa, district Dadikot/Bakhtapur. A kindergarten and training room for tailoring are joined to this public school. Once a week there is also a medical treatment of the villagers and children by Mr Dr Pape and his daughter in the health post located at the school area.

Hostel with a school in Humla (north-western region of Nepal)
In March 2007, a hostel was started to build by the people in Humla and with the financial support of the organization. Today, 132 children from around 5 villages close to the Tibetan border live in the hostel and attend the school nearby, which was also renovated by the organization.

Preservation of nature, traditions and culture in Dadikot/Bhaktapur
In 2009, the Nepal school project was handed over a piece of land with an area of 570 ropanis, 5 ana by the municipality of Dadikot, Bhaktapur district, with the request to develop and promote the necessary infrastructure. Since then, a lot more than thousand rudraksha trees have been planted on the cut-over areas of the Mount Anantalinkeshwor. Furthermore, the project plans to provide the entire surface with a natural fence to prevent deforestation and degradation of nature by humans and livestock.
With that the mountain is supposed to serve in the long term as a green lung in the Kathmandu Valley and the seed pods and fruits of the rudraksha trees as an additional source of income (e.g. malas) for the resident population.
In Chidrapur, in front of the mountain, two village courts were renovated as political and social meeting places for the villagers.
At the foot of the mountain is the sacred place Charkhandi, which is used as a burning place for the dead bodies and especially for the ritual ablutions of the Hindus. This holy place was cleaned up and renovated by the village committee of the organization. Through a new source development and construction of a large water tank it is now supplied with clean drinking water for 12 hours a day.
Due to these measures, a new health and hygiene awareness was promoted and germs caused by polluted water are excluded.
