Ost-Apotheke Hostel

Since 2013 our group of currently 30 people has renovated an astonishing protected monument building that is called 'Ost-Apotheke' as it used to be a pharmacy once. Among us are musicians, djs, philosophers, painters, carpenters, nightlife enthusiasts and entrepreneurs.

Apart from the hostel we set up a private bar and music space in the house that is open to hostel guests and to our extensive network of friends.

Mira, who planned and mainly runs the hostel had her initial inspiration when she spent time in an experimental London house project with young creatives, exploring theory and practice of contemporary communal living.

Ost-Apotheke Hostel comprises the following rooms:

- the 'Kelim Room': a private room for up to 3 people

- 4 bunk beds in our huge dormitory

- The Monk Cube and the Sleek Cube: two half private rooms in the form of small wooden living cubicles built into the large dormitory. They are closed spaces with their own doors and windows offering privacy concerning visibility but no noise isolation.

- Two half private rooms behind the cubicle rooms: The Alice Room for one or two guests and the forest room for one. These rooms don't feature a ceiling but have wooden walls and a door for privacy.

There is a communal room with a large table for all to hang out or work - and to eat the meals prepared in our lovely self-catering kitchen.

Outside of the actual hostel space you will share the cozy backyard, massive tree house and table tennis table with the house residents - and of course our private bar that we open most evenings.
