The Farmstead

The original farm of Papenwohld was build in 1864 and is located right at the edge of the nature park Hüttenerberge. It offers an idyllic atmosphere to relax in the middle of nature, surrounded only by green fields and forests. Officially part of the tiny village Klein Wittensee, it lays right in between the surrounding villages, with the next neighbors 1/2 miles down the road. There are beautiful lakes nearby, that are only minutes away by bike. There are only a few cars passing by during the day, and it is pretty much silence at night. But the highway A7 is less then 10 minutes by car and the Baltic Sea beach in Eckernförde is less then 7 miles away.
So it is not just a retreat "at the end of the road” - in the middle of nature, but its also a great base for trips to discover Northern Germany.

RENT:

If you are traveling as an individual, a couple, a family or bigger groups with 16 people, the side house allows a very diverse use. Down below you can find a simple sheet with an overview of the different rooms, studios and apartment and some possible bundles. If you are interested you can contact us directly or use either of these platforms:

Even thou it is a big house I will always do my best to plan your stay as comfortable as possible. I would never rent to you if lets lets say you are just looking to relax, but part of the house is used by a band to record a record.

Diele - The Hallway

The hallway is the public space of the house. You might find me playing the piano or you can meet other guest and spend communal night times at the big fire place. There is also a shared bathroom and a room with a laundry machine, that you are welcome to use.

The hallway can also be rented as an additional recoding or work space and conference room.

Das Altenteil - The ‘old-parts’

Was originally the living space for the farms older generation. It has a separate entrance and is the most luxurious part of the house. It was completely remodel in 2014 and furnished with a lot of love. There are actually quite a few old pieces of furniture that make the charm of the apartment.

The Studio

The studio is located on the second floor and is basically one big open room with tons of day light. A full kitchen and a kind a funny little private bathroom. Even thou I can stand up straight in the shower with 6.3’ even much shorter people can’t stand straight in the tiny room itself. But still you can do what you need to do and to be honest the magical atmosphere of the studio totally makes up for it in my humble opinion.

If there are no guests and I am here I use the studio to work on my projects.

Der Pferdestall - the horse stable

Used to be the part of the house were the horses were kept. Even thou its now on the second floor I decided to be inspired by old documents and drawings I found in the chronicles.
It definitely is the most rustic space of the house and sometimes you can even watch the horses from the windows.
There is only a wood fireplace to heat the room, but there is always enough firewood for you to use to keep you warm and cozy even in the coldest nights. Special features like the bench with a window to the hallway and a hidden tiny staircase add to the atmosphere.

Gartenzimmer - Garden Room

Whenever I am not on tour or working in the US I am making this little cozy room my home.
I love to enjoy the afternoon sun light thru the big door and the little fire place keeps me warm and cozy in cold nights. Sometimes I can even hear the horses do their thing.
