Schloss Derneburg

The Hall Art Foundation | Schloss Derneburg Museum welcomes visitors to view its exhibitions of postwar and contemporary art.

Situated near Hannover, the history of Schloss Derneburg dates back almost one thousand years. Originally a fortified castle, it was a monastery for hundreds of years, and became a residence for the Munster family in the 19th century. Most recently, it was the home and studio of artist, Georg Baselitz, for three decades until its sale in 2006. Since then, and in cooperation with the Schloss Derneburg Museum gGmbH, the adjacent buildings have been reunited with the property and have undergone extensive renovations in order to open as a public museum to present the exhibitions of the Hall Art Foundation.
