Why to go to a concert?
For musicians, this is a haunting question, at the time of Internet, Mp3, Youtube -when all music is everywhere and all the time available, almost at the point of invading us.
As we got the possibility to take over the planning that concert hall in Refrath, we both wanted to use this chance for experimenting. Experiment different things, different projects, but always with one central point in mind : to create a place where people, regardless of age or social differences, but united by a sense of curiosity, a wish to discover and a need for beauty, would gather, would live and share an unexpected moment together.
That is, according to us, what all technology of the world cannot replace -the simple and human fact of sharing something together.
Through the years, different events will be organized. Mostly around music, but maybe in a different way, and associating different arts or disciplines (acting, dance and visual arts). Proximity between the artist and the audience, short concerts, presentation of the program, association of different arts -those are few of the things we would like to try, in order to bring a new air into the format of concert.
We want also to create events for other audience, for people who would perhaps spontaneously not feel comfortable or think that classical music is outdated and doesn’t concern them. We both experienced, through the years and in front of very different audiences that, when presented under the right angle, this music can speak, even to people who would perhaps not have thought first that they could connect with it. This was always an extremely uplifting and encouraging result, and we want to develop it in Refrath and around too.
Classical concerts, Theatre evenings, Children Spectacles, Jazz concerts, Lectures, or small Exhibitions -the possibilities are in fact endless. We hope very much on your presence, on your support to make this adventure possible and give life to this project.
