Steinbru Models

"In an office in the middle of Stavanger, Norway, fashion and advertisement photographer Joachim Steinbru is waiting for me. He’s just started a new modelling agency in Stavanger, and it’s not one of the regulars. Joachim is one of the aspiring souls that wants to break boundaries and create something new. He released Steinbru Models in the beginning of 2016, and the feedback has been overwhelming.

Joachim has been fascinated by photography since secondary school, and started studying media and communication at high school specializing in photography. “The second I started getting interested in photography, I never let go of it”, starting to explain the concept behind his little bit different agency. Stavanger is not known for being on top of fashion, but as the city swimming in ‘oil-money’. The photographer wants to change this image, mentioning youth in sweatpants and big t-shirts wandering around town.

The agency welcomes everyone who wants to try modelling, no matter how skinny, tall or pretty you are. The only thing you need to get signed with Joachim is the aspiration to model and a good work ethic. Joachim focuses on being your true self, no matter what the ideal beauty image says. He likes breaking the rules, and thinks some of the requirements within modelling today are dangerous and unnecessary.

Society seeks someone to relate and identify themselves with in advertisements for the product to appeal to them – and let’s be honest, few of us fit in to these criteria. Joachim started Steinbru Models to give everyone an opportunity, and also to make a name for himself. As we all know, when you do something different – people notice it. The agency started out as a database for himself to keep track of all the different faces he had photographed through the years, but it went from being something personal to public for everyone to see. “There has been so much good feedback, and people are contacting me with all kind of different requests.” Joachim has already been featured in Stavanger’s media houses, so what could be next? The model agency cutting size 0 might be a little bit different, but people love it – and so do we!"
