Trinational Master in European Studies, Opole - Mainz - Dijon

The Department of Political Science and the Jean Monnet Centre of Excellence at the Johannes Gutenberg-University Mainz offer a trinational MA programme “European Studies” together with the Department of Political Science of the Uniwersytet Opolski (Opole/Poland) and the Faculty for Law and Political Science of the Université de Bourgogne (Dijon/France). The consecutive 4-semester MA programme is certified in all three participating countries and will be starting once more in the winter term 2016/17.

The „Europa-Master“ is inter alia sponsored by the Deutsch-Französische Hochschule/Université Franco-Allemande (DFH/UFA), which also offers mobility funds to students. There are no tuition fees (only administrative enrollment costs).

The “Europa Master” provides participants with specialised knowledge about European cultures and societies (Opole), European/EU politics (Mainz), and European/EU law (Dijon). Furthermore, students acquire intensive personal “European” experience by studying and living together in three European countries.

The “Europa-Master” is the only trinational MA in European Studies currently offered in Germany. Participants study the first semester in Opole (Poland), the second semester in Mainz (Germany), and the third semester in Dijon (France). Only for the final semester (dedicated to an obligatory internship, the writing of the master’s thesis, and the final exam) participants may separate again, depending on where they like to do the internship, thesis and exam. Upon the successful completion of the MA programme, graduates receive the respective national degrees from all three partner universities.
