Vianden (canton)

Vianden is a canton in the north of Luxembourg, in the Diekirch District. The capital is Vianden.The canton consists of the following 3 communes: PutscheidTandelVianden The canton's land area is currently 78.52 km². It increased in size by 24.44 km² on January 1, 2006 when the municipality of Bastendorf from Diekirch Canton merged with the local municipality of Fouhren to form the new municipality of Tandel. The area that was formerly Bastendorf thereby switched cantons.
